Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room: the wave of layoffs that have hit the industry like a ton of bricks. It’s been rough. Thousands of talented individuals have found themselves out of a job, studios have been shuttered, and projects have been left hanging in the balance. The numbers don’t lie, and it’s clear that 2024 is shaping up to be even more turbulent than the previous year. Over 10,000 jobs were lost in 2023, and an additional 8,000+ jobs were lost in 2024 from January to March.
